The Heir by Kiera Cass

This past week, I finished reading Kiera Cass’s The Heir and I've got some mixed feelings about it. I had thought the series ended well with The One and was surprised that there was more. It almost felt like now that you've had a dystopian version of The Bachelor, it's time for The Bachelorette. So for those of you that were fans of The Selection series, I want to hear your thoughts on the new book. If you haven't read, do you want to?

You can read my full review on Goodreads.

Let me know!

I actually really enjoyed it! A surprised fourth book to what I thought was a trilogy was almost like a present you weren't expecting. Kiera's writing style is pleasant and easy to read, and the plot isn't overly complicated. It's the kind of book that I like to read in my downtime, much like the Twilight series. I actually kind of prefer this new book over the previous three. It's a bit weird seeing Maxon and America as adults, but I can live with that. What I really like about this one is that I have no clue who Eadlyn is going to pick. With the other three books, it was clear that Maxon HAD to choose America or nothing would change in Illea and the series would be pointless. However, this time around, there are still major problem in the country, and Eadlyn has to juggle making the people, her parents, and herself happy with this Selection.
Overall, I really liked this book, especially after The One, which I really disliked the ending of (I feel v strongly about the major amount of character death- I can understand the King and Queen, but Celeste didn't have to die!!!!). I look forward to whatever Kiera has in store for Eady.

Hi Haley!

I was so mad with the end of The One too! Way too many deaths and all at once. It was overwhelming and I had never wanted Celeste to die!

As for The Heir, not knowing who Eadlyn will end up with definitely kept me reading more. I do really want to see what Kiera Cass has in store for her because she is finally becoming less bratty, thank goodness!! I was happy to see her character grow, even if it was only a little. Cass did a good job showing Eadlyn's internal struggles over her duty and the selection as well as her change of heart. I will be reading the next one when it comes out!

So who do you want Eadlyn to choose? ;)
